If you live where the seasons change, you may be thinking of buying a leaf blower. Raking leaves with a rake is often back-breaking work, and no one relishes the chore. When the leaves change and fall they are beautiful to look at, but they aren’t much fun to clean up. You can get a blower to help take a lot of work out of gathering and disposing of your leaves, but you do have to be mindful of a few things when you use one. There may be no easier way to make enemies out of your neighbors than by using your blower in the wrong way.
You should never use your leaf blower to blow the leaves into someone else’s yard. That may sound like common sense, but you might be surprised how many people try to get away with this. These are great tools for other things, and you can use them to blow things from your driveway any time of the year, but again, never use the leaf blower to blow these things on to someone else’s property. They are going to get very upset with you very fast, especially if they have just cleaned up their own yard.
There are some exceptions however. There are times when some communities will allow people to use their leaf blower or their rakes to move leaves into the street and the cleaners will come and pick them up. However, you should never assume that this will happen. Some require people to bag them up for pick up, or they don’t pick them up at all. Make sure you know what is required of you before you pick up your leaf blower to start sending those leaves out into the street. You could be fined if you have done it at the wrong time or if they don’t pick them up for you at all.
You can usually find great prices on a leaf blower if you look at the right time of the year. They are usually out in stores all through the summer and the fall, but you may find the best prices on them once winter is under way. You won’t be able to use your leaf blower until the next year, but you might get the best price by buying at this time. You also may find you can find a really good deal if you look online for someone who will ship one straight to your home.
Summary:
Leaf blowers are really annoying pieces of equipment. There is no doubt they help so much in the fall when you have a mountain of leaves to deal with. It is common sense, but never blow your leaves in someone else's yard. This is extremely bad form and socially unacceptable. Don't run your leaf blower early in the morning. No one wants to wake up to that irritating sound. Your neighbors will become your enemies if you show bad manners using your leaf blower.
